Review of Radiology Together Meetings in 2017
date : 02.01.2018
For second consecutive year, the association of the radiology residents in Bulgaria – Radiology Together (RT) organized three meetings that took place in the city of Sofia. Specialists and residents in the field of radiology and other specialties, not only from Bulgaria but also from abroad (Germany, Austria, Croatia), took part in them. Two of the meeting were in a smaller format on themes “Oncogastroenterology in radiology” and “The Resident’s Nightmares” in which the number of people that attended was 40 and 35 respectively. The meeting with theme “Emergency Radiology” was held in two consecutive days and a record number of 90 people attended. The main aim of the organizing RT committee is to use a unique topic for every event that encompasses different systems in order to cover as many diseases as possible. The main idea of the organizing team is to combine the pleasant and the useful, while enriching the knowledge of the participants but at the same time contributing to the establishment of new contacts and relationships between the colleagues. All of the meetings so far have been organized with the support of the Bulgarian Society of Cardiothoracic Radiology, Bracco-Ewopharma in Bulgaria and Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital, as well as Siemens, Bayer, General Electric, Software Company and Medical University of Varna.

The 7th meeting of Radiology Together was held on the 9th December 2017. The theme of the event was "The Resident’s Nightmares" and the focus was on the specific clinical cases that the residents encountered, in which they were placed in an unusual and difficult situation which was a challenge for them. In such cases, despite the difficulties, they managed to handle the situation and as a result were able to learn from the experience. They shared this experience with each other and not only did they managed to convey their own massage, but also to learn from the others. At the event attended 35 people, mainly residents in the in the field of diagnostic imaging, but also in anesthesiology and cardiology. The message of the young doctors was that anyone can make mistakes but it is important to learn from them and to constantly strive for self-improvement, by the means of which proper and timely diagnosis of the patients is made.
The current organizers of Radiology Together - Gloria Adam, Kalina Chupetlovska and Radina Radeva are tireless and already plan the events for the next year - three in total. Together with Prof. Kirova they are setting up one bigger multidisciplinary meeting on theme “How to Do a Research?” which will be held in the late spring in Sofia and two smaller meetings. The second one will be on topic “Musculoskeletal radiology” in the autumn in Varna. The third meeting in 2018 will be held in the winter and the organizers urge the other residents to show initiative and get involved in its planning and organization.
